As headlines grabbed us with a future rife with a “Mad Max” dystopia fraught with devastating pandemics, environmental meltdown and an ever widening gap between the haves and the have not’s there was a ground well of disbelievers. Countless others of every stripe and persuasion from Dallas to New Delhi were heralding that survival of all species was possible at the nexus of technology, empathy and simplicity. By adopting a more sustainable lifestyle, we could continue to right the wrongs plaguing us all.
A growing awakening with words like “mindfulness”, “intention” and “sustainability” were being bandied about as fast as the ‘1% ers’ and entitled mediocre men and women could say “Louis Vuitton” or “Lamborghini”.
The shifting shape of luxury: from ‘aspirational’ to ‘genuine’ was to be 2020’s on brand message. Many were trading in the ‘hump’ job for a satisfying ‘gig’. As America celebrated their version of the New Year and the only Corona’s on any ones minds were the one chilling in the fridge with Super bowl just weeks from touchdown. the enforced confinement of Chinese and Italians and citizens of other nations history will prove served as inhibitors giving the world time to prepare for Covid-19 to run its global course.
